The Slovak road freight transport sector - 2019

Since the early 2000s, the Slovak RFT sector has been characterized by its focus on the international market, its ability to tap into various markets in both the West and the East, as well as its investment in building commercial relations with the largest European economies. Its competitive advantage, resulting from lower production costs than those of its Austrian, German or even Czech neighbors, has made it an increasingly important economic partner. The Slovak RFT sector is thus characterized by a high degree of specialization in international operations. This choice has increasingly allowed the Slovak sector to compete successfully with other European sectors. Thereby, the annual average mileage of Slovak drivers rises from 128,000 km per annum in 2017 to 132,000 km per annum in 2019.

Another important development needs to be highlighted, however : the operating costs of Slovak RFT companies has been constantly increasing over the past several years. For example, the cost of a Slovak driver increased from €23,500/year in 2012 to more than €28,000/year in 2019, an increase of nearly 13%. The cost of tolls more than doubled over the same period following the general rise in toll rate throughout Europe.

CNR invites you to discover this new study which brings details on Slovak RFT with operating conditions of 2019.
