Moving costs – updated June 2026

Moving is one of the traditional sectors of road freight transport that the CNR has been studying since 1997.
In 2023, the CNR carried out a new survey focusing on house moves and business relocations carried out using 40–50 m³ diesel-powered removal lorries and 20–30 m³ diesel-powered light commercial vehicles.

In this new 2026 edition of the reference cost tables for private house moves and business relocations, the costs have been updated to reflect economic conditions in June 2026.

Removal firms have been experiencing significant cost inflation since 2019, when the cost schedule for these two specific activities was first published. The unit cost of the “typical” residential removals and business relocations presented in the study is therefore set to rise by an average of +26.6 % between 2019 and 2026.
