The CNR professional diesel fuel index tracks the monthly change in the cost of diesel fuel used by heavy goods vehicles with a maximum permissible weight of 7.5 tonnes or more engaged in road haulage, excluding VAT. It takes account of the different methods of supply (pump and tank) and includes the rates of partial reimbursement of excise duty on road diesel.
The CNR commercial diesel index is available online at midnight on the penultimate day of the current month (excluding Sundays and public holidays).

In accordance with the request from the Minister for Transport, Philippe Tabarot, and the professional road transport organisations, the CNR publishes the fortnightly commercial diesel price indices. These fortnightly indices are calculated using the same methodology as the monthly indices. The monthly indices remain the benchmark indices.
The CNR has updated its European overview of the specific taxation of diesel fuel in Europe and details the partial excise duty refund schemes applicable to road haulage that have been introduced in certain countries. Highlights of this overview, published on 16 March 2026: France:
